I traveled to Oregon last Thursday and got caught up in the road closures and traffic around the Chico area when the Camp Fire was roaring through Paradise. Highway 99 was closed and ash was swirling through the air. A huge pall of black smoke hung over the central valley turning day into night. It was quite frightening just to be under the smoke, I can’t begin to imagine the suffering of the people actually caught up in the fire itself. We looked into retiring in Paradise so I am familiar with the town and surroundings. It was a beautiful community, now so sadly destroyed. My heart goes out to all the people impacted by this horrific fire.
